Standards and Procedures are official documents pertaining to the evaluation of student learning. They provide a summary of the evaluation criteria for each subject, and the period during which exams are scheduled.
Elizabeth High School is Quebec’s only English language school for pregnant teens and young mothers for wom-en aged 21 and under. Our school welcomes up to 18 pregnant teens and adolescent parents, and is a school within EMSB’s Outreach Network. Our goal is to provide our students with the social, emotional, physical and educational support needed to complete their high school diploma, and move forward in their studies.
Elizabeth High School offers courses from Sec 1 to Sec V, leading to a high school leaving diploma (CEGEP en-trance). Students can also complete their Secondary IV credits, which allows them to enroll in vocational pro-grams of study. In addition to the basic curriculum, we offer a unique visual arts program in conjunction with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, a music program in conjunction with the Segal Centre, and home economics classes. Students have individual education plans and work at their own pace to complete their courses.
Interested students are welcome to contact the head teacher at Elizabeth High School. Upon acceptance to the program the head teacher will make an educational/social assessment of the student, to best understand her academic and social needs. Elizabeth High School believes strongly in providing students with a continuum of services, and work collaboratively with all the professionals involved.
Various services are made available to the students attending Elizabeth High School. There is a library and lounge area, pre and postnatal care, and groups on parenting, health and life skills. Social workers as well as childcare workers are also made available to Elizabeth High School students, which is supported by Elizabeth House. Practical support such as a breakfast program, a bus pass program and clothing donations are integral parts of our program.
A free on-site nursery is also available to the moms, and moms to be. Babies and infants are provided with a stimulating environment, and mothers are offered information in regards to the appropriate development of their children.
